Taytay Priest, Arrested for Soliciting a Minor, is a Gun Owner – Victim Claims He Pointed Gun At Her Before.

  • Arnel F. Lagarejos, a parish priest from Taytay, Rizal was arrested for "booking" a minor for s*x
  • According to the victim's testimony, the priest is a gun owner and supposedly threatened her with the weapon
  • She was allegedly told by Lagarejos not to accept other bookings from men, other than him.

Recently it was reported that a Taytay priest, Msgr. Arnel F. Lagarejos, was arrested on July 28 for allegedly soliciting a 13-year-old girl and bringing her to a Marikina City hotel.
Now reports have come in that the 55-year-old priest is a gun owner and that he had once pointed the firearm at his victim.
According to the report by GMA News through an interview on Radio DZBB, Marikina Police chief Senior Superintendent Roger Quesada revealed that Lagarejos had once pulled a gun on his victim.
The minor’s testimony claimed that this incident occurred sometime in June. Additionally, she was supposedly told not to accept “bookings” from other men.

“Masasampahan po natin siya ng, kung wala pong papel ‘yung baril, ay illegal possession [of firearms],” Quesada said.
“Dahil po sa salaysay ng bata, may nakita siyang baril noon nung una. Kaya po naghalungkat ang ating mga operatiba at nakunan nga ng baril pero hindi naman po ginamit ngayon sa pagte-threaten sa bata,” he added.

Chief Quesada also clarified that Lagarejos did not, in fact, have his gun with him when the police apprehended the suspect.

Authorities discovered the gun later on which will be brought to Marikina PD as evidence. The Taytay priest legally owns the gun, according to initial reports.

Quesada also said that it will be the prosecutor’s decision to charge the priest with additional charges based on his past dealings with the female minor.
“Depende na po sa posisyon ng korte o yung piskalya kung ano po yung desisyon nila po dun kasi na-inquest yung kaso at bahala na po yung piskalya po dun,” Quesada said.

The priest from Rizal was arrested following a complaint from the victim’s very own mother to the Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) of the Marikina Police.

A 16-year-old homosexual “bugaw” (pimp) was also arrested for allegedly arranging the meeting between Lagarejos and the victim. Both the young girl and the pimp are in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Meanwhile, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) announced last Monday that the suspect was removed from his position as president of the Cainta Catholic College (CCC) as well as his duties as a parish priest of St. John The Baptist Parish.

It seems very strange for a priest to own a gun – especially when the bible teaches us to “love your enemies” and “thou shall not kill.”

What can you say about these recent events? Do you think the Taytay priest is guilty?
